Following on from the worldwide iOS phenomenon ‘Curiosity: What’s Inside the Cube?,’ a free to experience and on-going experiment in social interaction, game industry luminary Peter Molyneux and his studio, 22 Cans, have taken to crowd-funding site Kickstarter to raise money to develop their next project.
The project is called ‘Godus’ and the team at 22 Cans aims to ‘re-invent’ the god game genre of strategy games, an age-old almost forgotten genre that most would say was invented by Peter Molyneux himself. If not invented, then certainly popularised with his first break-out hit, Populous in 1989.
22 Cans is looking for £450 000 to fund the development of Godus, and the team is using the following mission statement to make the game a reality:
“The dream at 22cans is to make gaming meaningful. We want to engage people in fresh new ways with accessible, delightful games and experiences. We’re calling them experiments. Curiosity ‒ what’s inside the cube was the first of these and we’re taking what we’ve learnt from it and applying it to future projects such as our next step – GODUS.”
