Media Create Japanese Software Sales for week ending November 18th: Assassin’s Creed III stalks Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Written by: / / No Comments

Try as it might, Assassin’s Creed III couldn’t topple last week’s number one – Animal Crossing: New Leaf – from its lofty perch at the top of the Media Create software chart. AC III sold 72 504 copies during its first few days at retail while Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation for PS Vita sold 24 304 copies on debut. This latter figure is relatively impressive considering that the handheld’s install base in Japan is around one-eighth of the PS3’s.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 jumped to third spot thanks to a 79 percent boost in sales seemingly caused by the high number of new 3DS owners – many of whom were clearly looking for a Mario title to slot into their handhelds.

Meanwhile two Western titles – Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Need for Speed: Most Wanted – both performed well to occupy fifth and eighth spot on the chart respectively.
