PS Vita firmware update 2.00 now available!

Sony has released the promised firmware update for PS Vita that takes the system software to version 2.00. The timing of this fairly significant update is linked to the availability of PlayStation Plus benefits on the handheld from today.

The update takes only a few minutes to download and install and includes the following new features and enhancements:

  • Email app

  • Redesigned Near app – friends’ activities are now located under the LiveArea screen of the Friends app

  • Weather info is available in the Maps app

  • Improved web browser – page content loads quicker and the browser can be used while playing a game

  • Taking screenshots is now an instantaneous process

  • Data can be exchanged between PS Vita and PC over a local WiFi connection

  • Notification settings are separately available for a variety of apps

  • You can link your Twitter profile to your PSN account

  • PlayStation Plus subscribers can enable Automatic updates and Trophy synching, access 1GB of online storage for PS Vita game and app saves, and download free titles from the Instant Game Collection

  • Support for the Turkish language
