In grand and bizarre fashion, Gearbox Software has announced (and confirmed) the existence of the next downloadable campaign add-on for Borderlands 2, using the official Twitter account of in-game character Gaige to do it.

We may know Gaige the Mechromancer as the fifth playable character class in Borderlands 2, and ‘she’ has been known to let people know about her adventures through ‘her’ Twitter account, but yesterday, transmissions were hacked and taken over by one Mr. Torgue, one of the game’s weapons manufacturers.

Here’s an example of the kinds of crazy things happening on the account at the moment:

“I NEED NEW PUNCTUATION THAT LOOKS LIKE AN EXPLOSION CAUSE PERIODS ARE TOO CALM AND EXCLAMATION MARKS LOOK LIKE AN UPSIDE DOWN LOWER CASE I”

And:

“OKAY THE NEW EXPLOSION-BASED PUNCTUATION LOOKS LIKE THIS (><) AND REPRESENTS AN EXPLOSION NOISE WHICH IS HOW BADASSES END SENTENCES (><)”

So with these exclamations of insanity, Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage was formally announced for Borderlands 2 – here’s the content’s debut teaser trailer:

Are you ready for new Borderlands 2 DLC, or are you still content with Gaige and Captain Scarlett? No release date has been set for the Mr. Torgue DLC, but expect it before the end of the year.
