DICE isn’t EA’s only triple-A game development studio in Sweden, now that a new company has recently made itself known.
Going by the name of Ghost, the studio is located in Gothenburg, Sweden (hence the developer’s other moniker, EA Gothenburg), and is currently being built and staffed by experienced game developer Marcus Nilsson, who previously worked on the Battlefield franchise with DICE.
“Now he is back in Gothenburg to build up a new game studio and attract game developers from the entire world,” writes Ghost on its website.
Why Gothenburg?
“Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city with a population of about 1 million people,” says Ghost. “This charming location was chosen because of the plethora of highly talented game developers that can be found in that part of Sweden and its southern regions.”
The studio is currently staffing up and accepting applications, but why would you want to work there? Here’s Ghost’s mission statement:
“Founded on the core principles of Excellence, Fun and Respect, Ghost is working to create a world-class team of developers, an exceptional working environment and build the next big thing in AAA gaming.”
Ghost also reckons it’s in a unique position to create world class games due to the studio possessing the agility and creativity of a ‘start-up’,” while also having access to “industry giants like Criterion and DICE” so as to “guarantee we have the tools and support to execute our creative and technical visions.”
Whatever could Ghost be working on for EA? We hope to find out very, very soon…
