Deep Silver has revealed details on the fifth character for Dead Island Riptide, the next instalment in the co-operative first-person shooter series that sees players facing off against hordes of zombies in an open-world tropical island environment. The publisher also revealed details about one of the locations in the game.
The new, fifth playable character will be John Morgan, and he’ll be joining the team of the original game’s protagonists. Morgan is a cook on a military ship but is trained in hand-to-hand combat, and his new skillset will be needed if the group is to survive the new zombie mutations that have emerged all over the island.
The town of Henderson is one of the new locations in Dead Island Riptide. It’s described as a luxurious, Mediterranean-looking port town in the centre of the island of Palanai, an island which is said to cater to “ultra-wealthy yacht owners and eco-tourists looking to stay nearby to the island’s untouched jungle.” However, after a monsoon the city is partially flooded and is filled with abandoned buildings.

Dead Island Riptide will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on the 23rd April in the US with the rest of the world following on the 26th April.
