Battlefield celebrates 10 years, Battlefield 1942 is free on Origin nowWritten by: / / No Comments
DICE is celebrating the tenth year anniversary of the Battlefield series, and the fact that two million members have now signed up to Battlefield 3 Premium since its launch in June.
To say thanks to all the Battlefield 3 fans across the world, gamers can now download a free PC copy of Battlefield 1942 from Origin.
Karl Magnus Troedsson, Vice President and General Manager of DICE, said “Since the beginning, the reception to the Battlefield series has been incredible thanks to our amazing fans. Every day, we strive to provide our community with great games and new ways to play as evident with Battlefield 3 Premium. We wanted to thank our fans who have supported us throughout the years by restoring Battlefield 1942 for a digital re-release and give everyone a chance to play the game that started it all.”
DICE also released some interesting stats about Battlefield 3, such as since the game’s launch in October 2011 there have been 95 billion total heals, 4 billion total revives, 3 billion vehicles destroyed and 2 trillion bullets fired. Our Battlefield 3 Friday Squad has no doubt contributed to these impressive numbers.
Battlefield 3 became the fastest-selling title in EA history, having sold 17 million units since its release. Battlefield 3 Premium delivers five expansion packs to gamers, including Back to Karkand, Close Quarters and Armored Kill (which have already been released), as well as Aftermath (available for PS3 on November 27th and Xbox 360/PC on December 4th) and End Game (coming March 2013).
