Rockstar officially announces Grand Theft Auto V release window, PC version not a focusWritten by: / / No Comments
It may have taken two rather serious information leaks to urge the company to action, but Rockstar has today formally announced a ‘Spring 2013’ release window for the developer’s upcoming open-world action game, Grand Theft Auto V.
A PC or Wii U version of the game was not mentioned in the official press release, but naturally the game will make an appearance on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 next year. In addition, pre-orders for GTA V will begin on November 5th.
Grand Theft Auto V is currently in development at Rockstar North and is said to be “the largest and most ambitious title in the series to date.”
“Set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and the surrounding area,” reads the release, “Grand Theft Auto V delivers a world of unprecedented scale and detail bursting with life, from mountaintops to the depths of the ocean.”
Founder of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, said of GTA V:
“Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we’ve learned about open world game design. We can’t wait to share it with fans.”
Following the news, Rockstar commented on the potential non-existence of a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, writing on the official blog:
“Hey guys, glad to see so much enthusiasm about the release announcement. For those asking about the PC platform, we’re currently focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game and don’t have any details to share about a PC version at this time.”
