We’re all keenly aware that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out on November 13th to fulfil 2012’s ‘duty’ to the series, but what about 2013’s edition of the industry-crushing franchise? According to a voice actor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is already in the works.
Under Activision’s orders, Infinity Ward and Treyarch have perfected the idea of the annual action game sequel – ever since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (and you could argue since Call of Duty 3), the pair of developers have been taking turns creating games in the Call of Duty series.
2011 belonged to Infinity Ward and Modern Warfare 3, while 2012 belongs to Treyarch and Black Ops 2. Will 2013 see a whopping fourth entry to the Modern Warfare series?
In an interview with consumer site This is Xbox, Captain Price actor Bill Murray (not that Bill Murray) casually mentioned a bit of upcoming work he’ll be taking part in – no big deal:
“Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…”
Does Murray even realise the enormous mountain of sandworms he’s carved open?
There’s not a whole lot of wiggle room here for Activision and associated companies to work with – Murray clearly mentions Modern Warfare 4 and the fact that it carries on from the previous game.
