In the studio’s on-going effort to concentrate on what it does best, Codemasters announced F1 Race Stars earlier this year to fill the ‘cartoon kart’ gap in its portfolio of racing genres… and it looks pretty darn cool.
F1 Race Stars is a super stylised arcade racer featuring stars such as Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, only represented “as they’ve never been seen before.”
Due for release this November across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, F1 Race Stars will include all of the cars, circuits and teams you would expect from a more realistic rendition of Formula One, except in this world colours, shapes and personalities have been drastically accentuated to fit the “fast-to-the-fun” arcade racing style of the game.
To include all friends and family in the fun, F1 Race Stars will feature a four-player split-screen mode while twelve players will be able to compete together. An “extensive” career mode is also included, comprising a number of Championships.
F1 2012 is due for release in European territories on November 16th – get ready for the action with a newly released gameplay trailer:
F1 Race Stars – Gameplay Trailer
I had the chance to play F1 Race Stars at gamescom this year and although the experience was brief, I had a good time with it. Maybe it’s (still) not a Mario Kart beater, but the great visuals and unique setup is very interesting.
What do you think so far? Are you up for another kart racer, or is Mario Kart the only one for you?
