In a special, just-released video starring Treyarch’s studio head Mark Lamia, it’s been announced that all features of the Call of Duty: Elite stat-tracking and social connectivity tool will be integrated into Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for free.
Also: The outed Black Ops 2 Season Pass has been confirmed and detailed:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 players were required to pay a subscription fee to attain Call of Duty Elite ‘Premium’ status, which not only gave them special features but also netted members all of the game’s released multiplayer content.
For Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, however, players will be able to enjoy all of the features of Elite, along with some enhancements and additions, all for free, but won’t be getting any free DLC.
A Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Season Pass will instead be offered to players, which will cost $50 and net you four planned map packs for the game – from Activision’s Dan Amrich:
“The Black Ops II Season Pass offers all four planned map packs for $50 (at least on Xbox 360, which will have the content first; pricing and details for other platforms are still TBA), but you can still buy DLC a la carte if you prefer.
“Preorders for the Season Pass go on sale at retailers today, if you’re eager, but DLC content won’t start appearing until some time in 2013.”
In the video below, members of the Call of Duty Elite team talk about all of the ways they’re integrating the tool into Black Ops 2, and how it will help you become a better player.
