Finnish development studio Rovio simply isn’t content taking over Earth and local outer space with its Angry Birds franchise, but will soon be taking the series to a whole new galaxy. One that’s far, far away.
Angry Birds: Star Wars has been confirmed to be in development and will become available on November 8th across iOS platforms (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch) and Android compatible devices.
Look out for your favourite Star Wars characters in Angry Birds: Star Wars, only this time re-created in the guise of a selection of protagonists from the slingshot-based games, as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca and Darth Vader will all make appearances.
Angry Birds: Space will apparently be used as the foundation for Angry Birds: Star Wars, except with planets and themes from Lucasfilms’ series of movies, with Tatooine and Hoth expected to be included.
Lucasfilm’s president of licensing and consumer products marketing, Paul Southern, said of the game:
“They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters. They are characters in their own right.”
Also watch out for a deluge of merchandise based on the new combined property. While we wait for November 8th to hit, you can watch a brief teaser trailer for Angry Birds: Star Wars below:
