One of the defining 2D platformers of the PlayStation era was Abe’s Oddysee – a title boasting beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds, a highly original world, and absorbing gameplay. UK developer Just Add Water is currently remaking the game for digital platforms and recently revealed some new details about the project during the Eurogamer Expo.
The game’s name has been changed to “Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee New ‘n’ Tasty!” to reflect the fact that it is a remake as opposed to it simply being the original version with higher resolution visuals.
Abe’s Oddysee New ‘n’ Tasty! is currently scheduled to be released during the final quarter of 2013 and will be available in digital form on PS3, PS Vita, Xbox 360 and PC. Some of the game’s new features include a quick-save option, real-time graphics and cut-scenes, and additional dialogue.
