EA is no stranger to successful game launches but FIFA 13 could very well represent the publisher’s best-selling sports title of all time. The game was released in North America on Tuesday and is available from retailers in Europe and South Africa as of today.
Following our previous report of the incredible numbers recorded by FIFA 13, EA has announced that pre-orders have now reached more than 1.3 million copies worldwide and that the demo has been downloaded by 4.6 million players from 123 countries. The latter statistic represents a staggering 42% increase year-over-year!
FIFA 11 and FIFA 12 both sold around 12 million copies so it will be very interesting to see how FIFA 13 fares in relation to the phenomenal success enjoyed by its predecessors. All signs are pointing to this year’s instalment being the best-selling entry in the franchise by a fairly significant margin.
FIFA 13 is out now on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, PS2, PS Vita, 3DS, PSP and iOS. A Wii U version will also be available alongside the console’s launch on November 18th in the US and November 30th in European territories.
