The Kingdom Hearts titles seem like perfect candidates for a HD re-release since they boast fantastic visual design and excellent animation. It’s also been a long time since we saw the series appear on a home console so it goes without saying that any of the Kingdom Hearts games running in HD on PS3 or Xbox 360 is a very exciting prospect indeed.
During the Tokyo Game Show Square Enix announced that ‘Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX’ will be released for PS3 in 2013. The disc-based compilation features HD versions of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories along with Trophy support, a widescreen aspect ratio and a theatre mode where you can watch all the cut-scenes from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 in HD.
Here’s the TGS 2012 trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX that reveals updated character models along with HD-remastered visuals (display English subtitles by clicking the ‘Turn on Captions’ button):
Unfortunately the compilation has only been confirmed for Japan so far but it’s likely we’ll hear news of a Western release during the next few months.
