EA Sports’ annual franchises continue to set new sales and player usage records as FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 demonstrated during the past few weeks. Now NHL 13 has joined the party by setting a new first-week sales record for the franchise!
EA recently revealed that NHL 13 sold approximately 491 590 copies during its opening week – a 9% increase over NHL 12’s first-week tally of 451 000 copies and a new record for this long-running series.
EA also provided some statistics on online usage and which teams were the most popular choices among players during NHL 13’s opening week. Over 3.7 million online games were played during this period, with just under 5 million goals being scored. The most commonly used teams across all game modes were the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins.
