It appears as though the PS Vita-exclusive Soul Sacrifice isn’t the only thing on game development luminary Keiji Inafune’s mind lately, as the recently teased ‘Yaiba’ project has been revealed to be a zombie-themed Ninja Gaiden spin-off.
Titled ‘Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z,’ the action game is based in the mystical ninja and monster-infested world first created by Tomonobu Itagaki and Team Ninja, but adds a twist by including shambling dead horrors, as well as a new (dead) protagonist.
Ninja Gaiden Z is a collaboration between Team Ninja, Keiji Inafune and his company Comcept, as well as Western developer Spark Unlimited, as sees central character Yaiba attempting to hunt down and kill Ryu Hayabusa (the series-long protagonist of the main Ninja Gaiden games) who seems to have already killed Yaiba… interesting.
No release date or platforms have been announced, but a debut trailer has been released showcasing in-game action with very brief snippets of gameplay, encased in cinematic artwork:
