Following the successful release of Dragon’s Dogma earlier this year and the promise of a follow-up by top Capcom developers, the publisher has announced a ‘major expansion’ for the open-world action RPG called Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen.
Revealed during the currently-on-the-go Tokyo Game Show 2012, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is planned for an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 release in 2013.
One of the unique features of Dark Arisen will be the ability for players to import their save games from the original Dragon’s Dogma and presumably use their character or even story states in the expansion.
While more information is promised in the coming weeks, Capcom has assuaged Dragon’s Dogma fans with other news in the form of ‘Speedrun’ and ‘Hard’ modes coming to the original game before 2012 is done. As you might imagine, Speedrun mode will task players with finishing Dragon’s Dogma as quickly as they can, while Hard mode will increase the game’s difficulty, with better equipment as their reward.
We’ll have more news on Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen as it arrives. Here’s the debut teaser trailer:
