Guerrilla Games recently unveiled the Killzone Trilogy for PS3 – a retail release featuring the original Killzone remastered in HD along with the second and third games in the series. However, if you already own Killzone 2 and Killzone 3 then you’ll also be able to purchase Killzone HD as a standalone title from the PlayStation Store next month.
Killzone HD will hit the PS Store on the same day as the Killzone Trilogy arrives at retail – October 23rd in the US and October 24th in European territories. It will be priced at $14.99/€14.99/£11.99/AU$23.95.
The game features close to sixty Trophies (including a Platinum), 720p visuals running at 30fps, MSAA filtering, sharper textures and higher quality sound effects. Killzone’s control scheme has also been tweaked for the DualShock 3 and now better reflects the controls of more recent entries in the series.
Unfortunately Killzone HD won’t feature support for PlayStation Move, 3D or online multiplayer.
Here’s an overview of the game’s plot along with some screenshots:
“Killzone tells the story of Jan Templar, an ISA Captain whose home planet comes under attack from a Helghast invasion army. Together with a hot-headed sergeant named Rico, a deadly Shadow Marshal known as Luger, and the half-human, half-Helghast spy Hakha, Templar must attempt to reactivate the Orbital Defense Platform and drive the invading forces from his planet Vekta.”
