Sales may be down in certain sectors of the gaming industry but franchises like FIFA continue to reach new audiences and record impressive sales figures with each new instalment. FIFA 11 and FIFA 12 have sold around 12 million copies each, and all signs are pointing to FIFA 13 enjoying similarly monumental sales over the next few months.
Today EA announced that the FIFA 13 demo that went live earlier this week on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC has already been downloaded by 1.99 million people in 73 countries around the world. This marks a 29 percent increase year over year relative to the number of FIFA 12 demo downloads during the same period.
EA also revealed that FIFA 13 pre-orders have reached 875 000 copies worldwide with two more weeks to go until launch. This represents a 37 percent increase year over year in Europe and a 62 percent increase year over year in North America.
FIFA 13 will be released across Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 25th in the US, while Europe and the UK will get it on September 28th. A Wii U version will also be available alongside the console’s launch on November 18th in the US and November 30th in European territories.
