In what seems to have been a very quick turnaround, following the announcement of PlayStation 3 firmware version 4.25 last night, the update has gone live and is now available to download.
The main feature of the latest PlayStation 3 update is an increase in online save game storage space for PlayStation Plus members to take advantage of, as Sony’s Eric Lempel wrote on the PlayStation Blog:
“After you’ve installed the update,” writes Lempel, “simply go to the Saved Data Utility under the Game column of the XMB. From there you can access the Online Storage folder and find any existing game saves already uploaded, as well as the increase in space to 1GB.
“So set your automatic download to upload every game save for every compatible game you play and enjoy the additional breathing room. You can also continue to use this feature to selectively upload game saves you specify.”
How nice of them.
The full download appears to be around about the 200MB mark, so perhaps schedule that into your play time today and this week.
