When Gearbox Software announced the existence of a fifth class for Borderlands 2 at PAX East earlier this year, the character existed only in the realm of bits, bytes and dreams as the studio provided its initial thoughts on what the Mechromancer would bring to the first-person shooter RPG.
During our time at gamescom 2012 last month, Gearbox laid out much more concrete plans for the Mechromancer in an El33tonline-attended presentation, with an awesome gameplay demonstration showcasing the characters ‘Deathtrap’ Action Skill.
Now that we’re a bit closer to the release of Borderlands 2 (September 18th and September 21st!), Gearbox has formally announced a release date for the Mechromancer, which is currently available as a pre-order bonus.
Officially named ‘Gaige,’ the Mechromancer class will release on October 16th, for free for those who have pre-ordered Borderlands 2, but will also be available for a price of $9.99/800 MS Points.
Have you pre-ordered Borderlands 2? Will you be buying the Mechromancer class once the game is released?
