Wonderbook: Book of Spells dated for North America, developer diary explores underlying technology

Sony’s London Studio is one of the leading lights in the field of augmented reality (AR) game development, having worked on the groundbreaking EyeToy series during the PlayStation 2 era and more recently on the innovative EyePet franchise. The studio’s latest project is Wonderbook – an AR-based, interactive book that utilises the PlayStation Move controller.

The first entry in the Wonderbook series is called ‘Book of Spells’. London Studio worked closely with Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling to create an exciting adventure revolving around an advanced spell textbook found in the Restricted Section of the Hogwarts library.

Sony recently announced that Wonderbook: Book of Spells will launch in the US on November 13th for $39.99. If you don’t have a PlayStation Eye camera and a Move controller you can pick up a bundle containing the game and both these peripherals for $79.99. A PS3 console bundle that contains everything you need to play the game will also be available at launch.
