Angry Birds creators Rovio have formally revealed the studio’s next game and follow-up to world-crushing Angry Birds – everybody, get ready for Bad Piggies!
Launching on September 27th across iOS, Android and Mac platforms (with releases planned for PC and Windows 8 “shortly” afterwards), Bad Piggies flips the Angry Birds formula on its head and this time allows you to play as the ‘villains’ of that series, the pigs.
There is no slingshot gameplay in Bad Piggies, according to Rovio, but the game will instead feature “all new, never before seen gameplay.” Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said of Bad Piggies:
“There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story?”
Rovio executive vice president, Petri Järvilehto, also quipped:
“There’s so much more to these pigs than what is seen in the Angry Birds games, and Bad Piggies is the first glimpse into what’s going on in the imaginative and ingenious minds of the pigs.”
Look out for Bad Piggies later this month – for now, here’s that teaser trailer:
