It may have begun a few minutes late, but EA’s pre-gamescom 2012 press conference more than made up for its slight tardiness with a hectic presentation that was, as usual, rocking with raucous rumbling speakers and completely bathed in bombastic bass!
There was no alliteration during the event, but there was an enormous and powerful line-up of games, representing what is arguably EA’s strongest collection of titles in a long time.
Here is Part 1 of our look at EA’s media briefing ahead of gamescom this year (find Part 2 over here):
Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel had the honour of kicking off EA’s pre-gamescom 2012 press conference with a trailer and live demo that can only be described as ‘explosive.’
Releasing in March 2013 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, Devil’s Cartel once again features two-player co-operative play starring protagonists Alpha and Bravo, and runs on DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine with massive world destruction promised as a result – here’s the debut trailer:

Following an appearance by EA COO Peter Moore and EA Europe SVP Jens Uwe Intat, general manager for EA Sports’ NHL 13, Dean Richards, ‘skated’ on to the stage to talk about his past as a professional ice hockey player.
He was also there to tell us that NHL’s audience reach is second only to the FIFA series in the videogame world, and will this year be powered by over 1000 unique animations and ‘real sports physics.’
It was also announced that a demo for NHL 13 will be out over the week of August 20th, while the game is out on September 13th in Europe – here’s the (very loud) NHL 13 gameplay and features trailers:

Need For Speed: Most Wanted was the next game EA chose to showcase in more detail today, as executive producer Matt Webster spoke about Criterion’s approach to open-world racing, the most important facet of which is the fact that the game will allow you to use basically any included car from the start – ‘If you can see it, you can race it.’
Releasing on November 1st in Europe, Most Wanted’s Autolog 2.0 social connectivity feature will also be powered by something called Cloud Complete which allows players to continue their progress in the game across platforms, including mobile, console, PS Vita and PC.
A live demo and a multiplayer trailer completed the Most Wanted Experience at EA’s media briefing, both of which you can watch below:

Cars waiting outside the event’s venue, the Palladium:
EA and Patrick Soderlund brought more bullets and fast-paced action to the event’s enormous screen and whopping speakers with Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Executive producer Greg Goodrich took to the stage to demo the game, claiming that it’s the ‘only’ authentic military shooter this year.
Touting the ability to represent your own nation in the game, Goodrich says that 193 nations are present in Warfighter’s version of Battlelog, and the trailer didn’t give us any reason to believe people from around the world won’t want to do their best to prove their nation is tops:

Peter Moore returned to the stage to introduce The Simpsons: Tapped Out (out now on iOS devices), a social, Sims-like game – the less said about it the better, so just watch the trailer to make up your own mind:

Ahead of a new reveal for SimCity, EA announced that the publisher’s digital distribution service, Origin, is coming to Mac. Origin now boasts over 500 games from 50 partners.
This reveal tied in nicely with the announce that SimCity is coming to Mac, which was greeted with great applause. There is a public beta for SimCity coming soon, which you can sign up for at EA.com, but be warned: Space is limited.
Releasing in February 2013, you can have a new look at SimCity with the latest trailer:
