EA’s Summer Showcase event has seemingly already begun, with details on a new game in the Army of Two co-operative action series being announced.
The full title of the game is Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel and will take players to the “deadly streets” of Mexico following the series’ adventures in Shanghai in the second game. The backdrop for the story this time around is a drug war.
The game will include online and split-screen co-op play, with improved upgrade and customisation features to let you continue to hone and craft your own Alpha and Bravo, the game’s protagonists.
Currently in development at Visceral Games (Dead Space), The Devil’s Cartel is due out in March 2013.
“With the ability to unleash the power of ultimate destruction,” writes EA, “players will need to work together as their objectives unravel, allegiances begin to blur and they face off against a ruthless opposition.”
Executive producer at Visceral Games, Julian Beak, said of the title:
“We wanted to refresh the Army of Two franchise for a new generation of action gamers, and at the same time, stay true to the core concept that really made the first two games fan favorites.
“With meaningful, seamless co-op gameplay at its core and explosive new tag-team features, gamers will have to work together tactically and strategically as they push through a city dominated by one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels.”
We’ll have more information on Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel as it arrives.
