It’s official – the 3DS XL is a huge success in Japan! The latest sales figures from Famitsu reveal that the handheld sold a whopping 193 441 units during its first two days on sale while 3DS XL launch title New Super Mario Bros. 2 shifted an impressive 430 185 units during the same period.
The 3DS XL’s opening tally makes it Nintendo’s most successful hardware revision in recent years. By comparison, the DSi XL sold about 100 000 units during its first two days on store shelves while the DSi shifted around 170 000 units during its opening weekend.
Nintendo recently announced that it has sold 19 million 3DS systems worldwide since the handheld’s Japanese launch in February 2011.
