Battlefield 4 beta formally announced and datedWritten by: / / No Comments
Following the reveal that a public beta for Battlefield 4 will be available to those who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition, EA has gone and formally announced the upcoming online test with a release window, too.
Due to launch in the ‘Fall’ of 2013, the Battlefield 4 beta will be available exclusively to those who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition, ahead of the game’s release in late October this year.
Additional details regarding Battlefield 4 and the beta will be revealed at a later date. No mention of platforms (or next generation platforms) were revealed for the online test.
President of EA Labels, Frank Gibeau said of Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Battlefield:
“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base ‒ Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment.”
Executive Producer on Medal of Honor, Greg Goodrich, additionally enthused:
“Frostbite 2 is an amazingly powerful technology that challenges us to break the multiplayer mold. The unique premise of global warfighters in Medal of Honor Warfighter has inspired us to pioneer new multiplayer concepts such as Fire Teams and the idea of having Tier 1 Operators from around the world go head-to-head in online competition.”
What do you think of this method of packaging and promoting upcoming games? Do you think it shows a lack of confidence in the games on offer, or do you think it’s simply a way to cross-promote two products together and give something back to the fans?
