Announcing the winners of a trip to Gamescom 2012 in Cologne, Germany!Written by: / / No Comments
The quest began over three and a half months ago.
A quest on which both El33tonline and leading South African ADSL service provider, Afrihost, embarked upon together. A quest that would ultimately culminate in the discovery of a pair of individuals worthy enough to travel to far away lands and revel in videogame nirvana.
Today, Afrihost and El33tonline’s quest – our journey – has come to an end. Today, we announce who will claim the prize in our recent epic competition:
An all-expenses-paid trip for two to Cologne, Germany for this year’s edition of the biggest videogame fair in the world, gamescom!
Today, we extend a hearty congratulations to David Edwards, who simply for being a subscriber to Afrihost’s online gaming-focussed ADSL package, AfriGamer, has been selected as the winner in our competition.
David will travel to Germany in mid-August for the express purpose of attending the overwhelmingly incredible gamescom 2012 videogame event – the largest trade show in the world – with opportunities to soak in the sights and sounds of the wonderful city of Cologne, too.
David won’t be alone, either, because he’ll be taking friend Matei Mihai with him to share in the journey, while El33tonline will be on-hand to act as travel guides both in the city and in the gigantic Koelnmesse convention centre where gamescom takes place – it’s easy to get lost in there!
When we contacted David to let him know he had won the prize, he was in a state of shock and disbelief but once we convinced him it wasn’t all a prank, he told us:
“I feel extremely privileged to have won the Afrihost ‘Win a trip for two to gamescom in Germany Cologne’ competition. I was utterly speechless and thought I was dreaming when I first heard. I cannot wait to experience Cologne and gamescom for the first time.
“I am really excited to see what up and coming games are on demo (hoping to get a sneak peak at ‘StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm!’) as well as new gaming technology.
“Thank you Afrihost and El33tonline for giving me the experience of a lifetime and allowing me to share it with a friend and fellow gamer!”
And who is this fellow gamer? We also heard from Matei who will be joining David on the trip:
“I am very happy to have been chosen by David to accompany him to gamescom in Germany. I almost could not believe it when I heard the news. This is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am privileged to accompany him and the El33tonline team to this awesome event.
“Visiting the Blizzard and Valve stands would be a highlight for me as I look forward to the release of the new Starcraft II expansion and any news of a full release of DOTA 2.Thank you Afrihost and El33tonline!”
Congratulations to both David and Matei – we’ll see you in Germany!
gamescom 2012 kicks off on August 15th, and opens up to the public on August 16th, and ends during the afternoon of August 19th – look forward to El33tonline’s extensive coverage of the show this year!
