Telltale may be working on a high quality series of adventure games based on the Walking Dead universe, Activision has just announced its intention to put its own spin on the franchise with a Walking Dead first-person action game.

Developer Terminal Reality (Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Kinect Star Wars) is currently working on the game, which will be based on AMC’s television series, The Walking Dead.

The first-person action game will focus on the story of Daryl Dixon and brother Merle as they make their way through the Georgia countryside fighting off all manner of zombies, while meeting up with other survivors who may or may not simply be out to steal your supplies.

Those supplies and other items, like food and ammunition for weapons, will be low in number and frequency, so you’ll constantly be faced with decisions during your encounters with the shambling dead: Do you flee to fight another day, or are you strong enough to destroy some zombie brains right there where you stand?

The Walking Dead from Activision and Terminal Reality is due for release in 2013 across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Here’s the debut video and/or trailer for The Walking Dead:
