Sony recently made an announcement concerning PS2 Classics being released on the Japanese PlayStation Store at the end of July. Included in the statement was some information relevant to PS Vita fans – PSone Classics support will arrive with firmware version 1.80.
Sony stated at E3 2012 that this feature would be added to the Vita “this summer”, so the new firmware could arrive any time between now and September 21st.
PS Vita is currently on firmware 1.69 so you would expect version 1.80 to have some notable enhancements. During a guest appearance on Podcast Beyond Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide Studios at Sony Computer Entertainment, admitted that Vita’s web browser needed an upgrade so perhaps firmware 1.80 finally addresses this issue.
