Last month Capcom USA’s marketing chief Seth Killian left the company, stating at the time that he had “chosen a new path” which would let him “embrace a new dream.”
Now Killian has announced on the PlayStation Blog that he’s joined Sony’s Santa Monica Studio as the lead game designer for its external group. This group collaborates with Sony’s outside studios such as SuperBot Entertainment (PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale) and Giant Sparrow (The Unfinished Swan).
“I was excited to join Santa Monica Studio in particular because of the chance to work with some great individuals, but also because of the incredible range of projects they take on,” said Killian. “There are other amazing studios in the world, but nowhere else that I know where you can find that kind of diversity combined with such a deep commitment to greatness ‒ which also happens to sum up what’s so exciting to me about Sony overall.”
Killian has an impressive list of accomplishments behind his name, including being a professor of Philosophy at the University of Illinois and a veteran of the pro gaming circuit, co-founding the EVO fighting game championship held annually in Las Vegas, and serving as Capcom’s Special Combat Advisor and International Street Fighter Ambassador. If you’re interested to learn more about Santa Monica Studio’s newest employee, episode 14 of the PlayStation Blogcast features an in-depth interview with him where he discusses how he got involved in the videogame industry.
