Call of Duty Online is real, debut trailer goes live with Activision, Tencent website [Update]Written by: / / No Comments
First mentioned into existence by Activision Blizzard CEO of Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, in early 2011, Call of Duty Online has now become real with the launch of an official website and the release of a stylish and explosive trailer.
Benefiting from a development period of roughly two years under the roof of Activision Publishing (at Activision Shanghai and Raven Software), and thanks to a multi-year strategic operating partnership with Chinese internet service provider Tencent, Call of Duty Online will soon become available as a free-to-play PC first-person shooter in mainland China.
Call of Duty Online will be supported by the sale of in-game items through microtransactions and has apparently been designed specifically for the Chinese market, with opportunities to customise weapons, characters and equipment “like never before in a Call of Duty game.”
“Using an in-game store, players can enhance their weapons, gear, and perks built specifically for the Chinese market. The new game will also bring a variety of game modes and maps and features an original story told through a series of Special Operations missions based on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare universe.”
Call of Duty Online looks to be every bit as feature-filled and action-packed as previous editions of the game on console and PC – watch the debut trailer below:
