A brand, spanking new update for Xbox 360 was rolled out last week, but was pushed worldwide yesterday across Xbox LIVE and surely left a few heads being scratched regarding its purpose.
The update was quite a bit larger than we’re used to and, at least from the internet chatter we saw, took much longer than many anticipated to download. So, what did this latest update actually do?
According to Xbox frontman Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb, the system update contained “[behind] the scenes foundational improvement that will not be visually noticeable” which will “help enable an easy update this Fall” (referring to Microsoft’s annual Xbox 360 Fall update and overhaul).
Also: “We’ve added voice search for Australia and New Zealand.”
Nice.
If you haven’t yet downloaded the update, the next time you sign into LIVE you’ll be asked to grab it. Let us know if it took as long to download for you as it did for us – a bit of a monster this time around.
