The Yakuza series is renowned for featuring a vast selection of side-quests and mini-games that can easily provide dozens of hours of optional gameplay if you’ve got the time to spare. From wooing hostesses to spending time in noisy pachinko parlours, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the entertaining distractions that the series provides in abundance.
Yakuza 5 promises to take this staple of the franchise to new extremes. Each of the game’s five playable characters has their own career-based selection of mini-games, ranging from Kazuma being a taxi driver in his spare time to Haruka attempting to become a pop idol. Don’t expect this portion of the game to be short on variety and features, as Sega has already confirmed that Kazuma will be able to customise his taxi with new paint jobs and parts while Taiga’s hunting mini-game will feature dynamically changing weather conditions.
Take a look at some new screenshots for each of the character’s career-based mini-games:
Yakuza 5 will be released exclusively for PS3 during December in Japan. Sega hasn’t yet announced plans to bring the game to the West but it’s highly likely that they will, particularly if the game performs well over there.
