Bethesda and id Software have today announced official October release dates for the pair’s DOOM 3: BFG Edition.
Slated for release on October 16th in North America and October 19th in Europe, DOOM 3: BFG Edition (if you hadn’t heard by now) is a re-mastered re-release of the original DOOM 3 for PC, and will become available across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms on launch.
The BFG Edition of the game will also include the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack, all-new levels for the game in the form of ‘The Lost Mission,’ as well as the original DOOM and DOOM 2!
DOOM 3: BFG Edition also features 5.1 surround sound, improved rendering and lighting, an improved check point save system, and the ubiquitous Xbox 360 Achievements and PlayStation 3 Trophies. If you were worried about the game’s transition to console, rest assured that great attention has been paid to this area, while you’ll now also be able to take advantage of the new ‘armour-mounted’ flashlight “to illuminate dark corners and blast enemies at the same time.”
