You can always look forward to a slick presentation where EA is concerned, and this year the publisher didn’t disappoint at its annual E3 press conference. The showcase demonstrated a strong line-up of ten titles, including heavyweights like Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3.
Sports titles like FIFA 13, UFC and NFL 13 were also present, as well as Need for Speed: Most Wanted, SimCity, Battlefield 3 and Star Wars: The Old Republic. The great thing about EA is that it always gets the developers themselves to demonstrate the games, and so we were once again treated to seeing some of the industry greats at the event.
Take a look at how the journey unfolded below:
Long queues greeted us outside the Orpheum Theatre, but registration and entry to the event was quick and easy
…and after a short wait, the entrance was upon us!
The stage was lit up by EA’s logo on arrival, while various tracks (including Nirvana) blasted from the sound system
Dead Space 3 was first off the starting blocks, and received a round of thunderous applause. It promises to be an ‘immersive spine-tingling experience’ when it launches in February 2013 with a new character and drop in, drop out play
Madden NFL13 was next up, with physics you can feel, and promising to be the next generation of Madden, today
Michael Irvin was there to chat about the careers mode and intimidate us with his large frame
Lucy Bradshaw from Maxis followed to talk to us about SimCity, which is coming to Facebook by the way
Lucy promised that SimCity would be the deepest, richest city building experience ever when it releases in February 2013
Peter Moore and Patrick Bach spoke about Battlefield 3 Premium next. So far 1.6 trillion bullets have been fired, 43 million flight hours logged and 50 million players joined worldwide
Battlefield 3 Premium will include five fully themed expansion packs (Back to Karkand, Close Quarters, Armoured Kill, Aftermath and End Game), featuring new vehicles, maps and weapons, as well as exclusive dog tags
BioWare’s Dr Ray Muzyka was present to discuss Star Wars: The Old Republic
You can look forward to increased level caps, a new playable species (Cathar) and new planet (Makeb) in Star Wars: The Old Republic
Greg Goodrich was up next to discuss Medal of Honor: Warfighter… without a big, long beard this time round
The live demo was done to a (very) loud (and rocking) Linkin Park track
Medal of Honor: Warfighter will be available on the 23rd of October this year
FIFA 13 followed with the world premiere of the gameplay trailer
And the announcement that Messi would grace the cover
Thunderous applause greeted the UFC logo on-screen
But not as thunderous as when…
Dana came on stage to announce a multi-year, multi-product deal between EA and UFC
Matt Webster from Criterion Games roared on stage next to show us Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which will be available on the 30th of October
Craig Sullivan gave us a great demonstration of this new open-world driving game, before Webster proclaimed ‘God save the Queen’ and left the stage
Crytek was last on stage, with Cevat Yerli showing us the various environments from Crysis 3 which is coming in February 2013
You can look forward to adaptive warfare in Crysis 3
Thanks to EA for a great E3 press conference. Stay tuned for more news of their titles live from the show floor.
