Yakuza 4 is one of the most entertaining open-world games of this generation so today’s official unveiling of the fifth entry in this quirky Japanese series was cause for great excitement. The game’s website was updated with new details about the five playable characters that the story revolves around as well as the five cities that it takes place in. Yakuza 5 will be a PS3 exclusive and will have its main characters’ diverse aspirations as a central motif.
The game’s five playable characters are familiar faces Kazuma Kiryu, Haruka Sawamura, Taiga Saejima, Shun Akiyama and newcomer Tatsuo Shinada. The Japanese cities featured in the game include Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokyo. SEGA has built a new graphics engine for Yakuza 5 and you can really see the difference it makes in the scattering of screenshots that are currently on the game’s website.

Yakuza 5 is currently pegged for a December release in Japan, with details about a Western version still unknown at this point.
