The latest Media Create hardware chart sees overall console sales up by 9% compared to last week’s tally. Every system apart from the 3DS enjoyed improved sales, with the PSP overtaking the PS3 to claim second spot. Sony’s seasoned handheld had its best week in a long time thanks to a couple of hot new releases as well as the introduction of new hardware bundles at Japanese retailers.
The PS Vita took fourth spot with 12 299 units sold during the past week. While this is still merely a fraction of what the 3DS is selling, it at least shows that Japanese consumers are willing to invest in the handheld when there are one or two compelling new software titles on store shelves (as was the case this week).
