A game by the name of ‘007 Legends’ has just popped up on the radar thanks to an announcement by Activision and developer Eurocom, and it’s due out later this year on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
But… what is 007 Legends?
According to Activision, 007 Legends will aim to let players experience the most iconic and intense missions ever executed by the world’s most famous superspy, James Bond, and will see players take on select objectives found in hand-picked Bond films.
007 Legends will feature an overarching (and original) storyline that will tie together six classic Bond movies, all of which will conclude with a story arc from this year’s Bond film, Skyfall – the 23rd entry to the series of movies.
As can be expected, you’ll have access to a vast array of weapons, gadgets and vehicles while taking on missions in exotic locations, all while outdoing villains and goons with Bond’s signature “quick wits, class and style.”
Executive Vice President at Activision Publishing, Inc. David Oxford said of 007 Legends:
“To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet.
“Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.”
007 Legends will also include the singleplayer ‘Mi6 Ops Missions’ (extra missions in addition to the story campaign, first seen in GoldenEye 007: Reloaded), while the four-player split-screen and online competitive multiplayer modes also return, this time with the promise of new maps, weapons and characters plucked from 50 years of Bond’s history.
“With more gadgets, deeper stealth and spy investigation gameplay, gamers will have every opportunity to truly feel like the world’s favorite spy.”
007 Legends is planned to release in the ‘Fall’ of 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
