Guns have always played a large role in the Max Payne series and Max Payne 3 appears to embrace their centrality with a wider selection of weaponry than ever before, along with incredibly visceral combat that is sure to appeal to shooter fans.
In many action games the shotgun is a lifesaver in close quarters combat or when fighting large groups of enemies due to its impressive stopping power and the wide impact range certain models of shotgun possess. Of course, the heavy butt of a shotgun can also do some serious damage during melee attacks as the man himself demonstrates in the latest Max Payne 3 trailer:

Max Payne 3 will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 15th in the US and May 18th in European territories. The PC version will be out on May 29th (US) and June 1st (Europe).
