While we at El33tonline have certain opinions on the support that Naughty Dog has provided for the functionality of Uncharted 3 multiplayer, the developer’s support of the game through content has been incredible with loads of new online arenas and characters to download from launch.
Why, just next week four new multiplayer maps for Uncharted 3 will become available and by the looks of the newly released trailer and screenshots, they’re looking truly remarkable.
On April 10th (for US PlayStation gamers) and April 11th (for European PlayStation aficionados), the latest Drake’s Deception Multiplayer Map pack will become available and include the following:
“The Graveyard map sets you in motion as you fight among ships and shipping crates on rolling waves. Old Quarter seems like a lovely scene on a cool Yemen night, but it’s full of dangerous alleys and dimly lit rooms.
“The bar, the back alleys and the broadways of the London Streets map offer some prime spots for a knock-down, drag-out turf war, so be sure to stop by the Pelican Inn for some more brawling. The Oasis map used to provide respite for a Bedouin camp, but now serves as a sun-drenched battlefield for your multiplayer matches.”
“We put a lot of love and polish into each map,” writes Naughty Dog community strategist Eric Monacelli, “including new dynamic events that occurs as the match progresses.
“In Graveyard, a patrol boat will circle the border and launch grenades. In Oasis, a passing plane will drop a shipping crate that can flatten you (or your enemy!) if you don’t make way. If you’re smart enough to stay out of the crate’ shadow, you may score the power weapon that resides inside. London Street and Old Quarter contain dynamic events as well… but we want to leave you a couple big surprises, don’t we?”
$9.99 is what you’ll pay for this map pack on its own, but of course if you’re a member of the Fortune Hunters’ Club (having already paid your $24.99), you’ll get the content automatically.
This content pack marks the end of the Fortune Hunters’ Club series of DLC, unfortunately, but Naughty Dog assures us that DLC will continue:
“For starters,” Monacelli continues, “for those of you itching for new play types and experimental modes, The Lab will make its return to Uncharted multiplayer. We’ll be talking with and polling you in our forums about various potential ideas we have for the future of Uncharted 3 multiplayer, so be sure to join in our community and voice your opinion.
“And stay hungry, as we will have additional news about future DLC and other plans for Uncharted 3 multiplayer in an upcoming blog post.”
As long as we’re just able to play the game online, we’ll be happy Naughty Dog…
