The first two Steel Battalion titles were released for the original Xbox and utilised a unique (and expensive) controller that featured 2 joysticks, 3 pedals and 40 buttons. Thankfully Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor dispenses with the cockpit controller of old and instead you’ll use a combination of Kinect and the Xbox 360 controller to operate your Vertical Tank – a fictional bipedal weapon of war with fairly low-tech armaments.
Capcom co-developed the first couple of Steel Battalion games but the latest entry in the series has been entrusted to Dark Souls developer From Software, with Capcom handling publishing duties. The company recently released a tutorial video for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor that takes you through the basic Kinect controls. It offers a fascinating glimpse at how gesture-based controls operate in tandem with the physical controller during gameplay. Check it out below:

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor will be released on June 19th in the US and June 22nd in European territories.
