The latest word out of Japanese videogame magazine Famitsu is that the next development collaboration between Grasshopper Manufacture (No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned) and Kadokawa Games (Lollipop Chainsaw) will result in the creation of a game known as ‘Killer is Dead,’ and no, it’s not a sequel to Killer 7.
Reportedly due out in 2013, Killer is Dead will place you in the shoes of a man with a bounty on his head, sentenced to death by an unknown party and currently being hunted down by an assassin.
What’s the main story conceit of Killer is Dead? You’ll need to track down and kill your assassin before he (or she) gets to you!
According to a report on on Siliconera, the gameplay of Killer is Dead will comprise elements found in Killer 7 and No More Heroes (both of which contain ‘assassin’ themes), and you’ll be able to use a sword during action sequences. ‘New elements’ are also promised, but an official, full reveal of the game will unveil these particulars.
What else is planned for Killer is Dead? We’ll be able to discover the darker side of the glamorous spy world found in properties such as James Bond, while ‘beautiful Bond Girls’ are also on the cards.
A name change is also sure to come about for any supposed Western release of Killer is Dead before it hits PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 over here. You can colour us ‘intrigued’ for now, though.
