Persona 4 Arena bringing stylish 2D brawling to consoles this AugustWritten by: / / No Comments
Persona 4 may be a PlayStation 2 title but its excellent 2D character art by Shigenori Soejima has definitely stood the test of time. Thankfully we’ll be able to experience Persona 4’s likeable cast in a whole new light when Persona 4 Arena releases for Xbox 360 and PS3 this August in North America.
This 2D fighter is being co-developed by BlazBlue creators Arc System Works and Atlus. The game takes place two months after the conclusion of Persona 4 and makes direct references to certain plot points and locations from the RPG.
Persona 4 Arena features ten fighters (and their respective personas) plucked from both Persona 3 and 4. These include Chie Satonaka, Aigis, Mitsuru Kirijo, Teddie, Yu Narukami, Yosuke Hanamura, Yukiko Amagi, Kanji Tatsumi, Naoto Shirogane and Akihiko Sanada. Atlus has pledged its commitment to retaining the English voice cast from the original games wherever possible.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Atlus does with the game’s console-exclusive story mode. It’s been a while since I’ve played a fighting game with a memorable plot so hopefully the gifted writers at Atlus can successfully transfer their talents from RPGs to fighting games.
Here are some new screenshots from Persona 4 Arena:
