[Update] Added full image of supposed Assassin’s Creed III protagonist below. [End of Update]
Ubisoft is doing its very best to drum up hype for what it calls a “major announcement” in the coming days for the next fully numbered instalment in the publisher’s incredibly popular Assassin’s Creed franchise.
A single image of what appears to be a frigid wasteland (or the desert at night time?) has gone up at the Assassin’s Creed Twitter and Faceboook accounts, with more teasers and information promised to come shortly (like, today).
We await the news very excitedly.
Meanwhile, in rumour news, Kotaku has received a bit of promotional artwork secretly sent to them via a Best Buy employee in the US that houses tons of clues (both subtle and dead giveaways) regarding the setting, protagonist and possible activities of Assassin’s Creed III – here it is:
From the image, and if the image is legitimate, we can safely say that Assassin’s Creed III is indeed set during the American Revolution, owing to the use of the old-school American flag and the character’s military get-up.
His tools of destruction (feathered arrows and a bow) as well as the appearance of his face point to a Native American protagonist this time around, too. Apparently the full artwork sees the character toting a tomahawk axe weapon.
And here’s the full image
We hope to discover whether or not any of this is true in the coming days as Ubisoft makes its major announcement!
