This week marked a very important and exciting time in the videogame industry with the release of Sony’s PS Vita, the company’s latest and greatest gaming handheld!
The console’s release was celebrated here in South Africa with a lavish launch event and El33tonline was there to soak in the vibes – read Lisa and Wayne’s fantastic reports on the PS Vita launch to get an idea of the evening’s experience with photos and videos, and also don’t miss our highly extensive previous coverage of the handheld, bolstered by Tom’s excellent efforts over the last few weeks and months.
The release of the PS Vita means that no less than three (well, four) of El33tonline’s members will be getting to know the device a lot better this weekend, but you can find out what else we’ll be getting up to over the next two days below:
Lisa
“It’s going to be a busy gaming weekend for me. I’m super excited to spend some more time with my PS Vita, and I have a couple of awesome games to test out like Little Deviants and ModNation Racers. I also downloaded all of the demos from the PlayStation Store last night, so I’m keen to put the new console through its paces.
I have Asura’s Wrath and Syndicate, which will also keep me busy. And Ghost Rider 2 (with Nicholas Cage!) hits cinemas today, so I foresee some popcorn in my very near future.
Enjoy your weekend everyone, see you next week!”
Russell
“This weekend is going to be an interesting one: Unfortunately ‒ interesting in the Chinese “May you live in interesting times” kind of way.
Firstly I might, or might not, have to work on Saturday and Sunday. Basically due to the ineptitude of certain of my colleagues who shall remain nameless. Sunday I hope to take my kids up to Hillcrest for a riding/swimming day with the grandparents. Hopefully I get to hang out with the family quite a lot cos they’re a cool bunch J
In between this I want to play (in no particular order):
-
Alan Wake American Nightmare
-
Game of Thrones: Genesis
-
Star Ruler
-
Battlefield 3
Hmmm, busy weekend but promises to be a busy one.”
Bryan
“Another weekend already? Man, this year is getting into full swing already!
I am looking forward to spending some QT with my baby girl and my babe girl (ahem, that’s my wife …) as well as, of course, some QT with my Xbox 360. On the cards for gaming will be Battlefield 3 (and for the record, if you find me playing a bit below par for a change that’s my wife playing on my account), BioShock (I am still so close to finishing this game and every time I think I’ve caught up to my previous save game I realise I haven’t quite yet managed to get there… just goes to show how close I was to ending this game the first time around), and a review session with WARP (TM).
In between all of that QT will be a bit of solid Super Rugby action to satisfy my soul. Oh, and to my BF3 squadmates – I’ll be late for the show tonight because the Sharks will be decimating the Bulls at Loftus until around 8:40pm. Join El33tonline’s Super33 SuperBru pool to see what some of the El33tonline staff have predicted for that game. I hear Oltman’s promised to give away an Xbox 360 game or two to whomever beats him in the pool so why not sign up and accept the challenge??
Until next week, have a good one!”

“When I was a kid I could not wait for the weekends, and they always took forever to arrive. Now that I am an adult I still look forward to them, but they seem to come quicker and quicker. Unfortunately this means that time goes by quicker and I am ever closer to sticking my first foot in the grave.
Before we get too emotional and lost in deep philosophical conversation, let me tell you how I foresee this coming weekend progressing.
I am away at Skogheim for most of the weekend. If you don’t know where that is then you have not been to any camp in KZN yet.
On my return on Sunday I will continue to get lost in the fantastic Diablo III where the monk named Oltmonk (har!) continues his journey deep into the depths of the asteroid’s point of impact.
Binary Domain will also get a lot of playtime and the philosophical question of what humanity really is will inevitably rise to the front of my consciousness. OK, there I go again. I better go lie down.”
Tom
“It is here! This weekend will be the first opportunity I’ve had to sit down with my new PS Vita and engage in scintillating conversation with this fascinating device. The Vita is a lot more erudite than you may initially think – you just need to set your ears to the correct ad hoc channel to hear its many musings!
Vita-induced lunacy aside, I’ll be playing some Uncharted: Golden Abyss this weekend and working hard on my review for Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.
Have an awesome weekend everyone!”
What are you up to this weekend p33ps? Gaming? Movies? Books? Time away? Studying or work? Let us know!
Have a great weekend everybody!
