It’s been over three years since Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots convinced a legion of gamers to leave their PlayStation 2s behind and invest in a shiny new PS3. Since then the man behind the iconic stealth series – Hideo Kojima – has remained silent on the next numbered entry in the series.
However, that’s all about to change according to a teaser for the Christmas issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine UK.
The issue will contain a lengthy and candid interview with Kojima where he discusses Metal Gear Rising as well as the game(s) he’s currently working on.
According to the magazine, Kojima’s next title is codenamed “Project Ogre”. OPM UK doesn’t specify if this is in fact Metal Gear Solid 5 or another game entirely. All they say is that Kojima “openly discusses his plans for Metal Gear Solid 5” during the interview and shares the latest details on the game.
Any confusion should be cleared up on November 29th when the Christmas issue of OPM UK hits newsstands.
In terms of what platform(s) a new Kojima title would appear on, the evidence strongly points to a multi-platform release across PS3, PS Vita and Xbox 360. Kojima Productions’ in-house Fox Engine is designed to take advantage of all three platforms and thus facilitates Kojima’s concept of ‘Transfarring’ – the ability to transfer your progress between the PS3 and PSV versions of a game using cloud-based saves.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest Metal Gear Solid 5 news right here on El33tonline. Until then, I highly recommend checking out the video below for a more detailed look at the Transfarring process as well as some rare glimpses of the Fox Engine in action.
