There’s been a lot of moaning and grousing following the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 about how gamers are now being inundated with titles in the ‘modern military shooter’ genre, and how the action category of games now needs a change after following this trend for too long.
Sound familiar? This was the same sentiment expressed when World War II shooters were all the rage – gamers had grown tired of them, and with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, we got the change we wanted.
The military shooter isn’t the only popular gaming trend that some would rather see go away, so this Question of the Day asks:
What popular game trends do you want to end?
These trends could be anything, from over reliance on post-release downloadable content, half-hearted attempts at Move and Kinect support, cover-based shooters, short singleplayer games with focusses on multiplayer, and many more.
