Free-to-play titles have become increasingly common of late, particularly on PC. PlayStation 3 also has a couple of games which use the free-to-play business model, such as Free Realms and the Japanese title Angel Love Online.
Sony’s upcoming handheld PS Vita looks set to support freemium games from the outset judging by the launch title Browser Sangokushi Next. This port of the browser-based strategy game will be available as a free download on PS Vita’s Japanese launch – December 17th – and will be supported by microtransactions via the PlayStation Store.
